First Impressions with Monat Premium Haircare Samples

Hi Everyone!

OMG! Christmas is less than two weeks away! Have you finished your Christmas shopping? I have not, but I’m going shopping tomorrow!

On Instagram, I was contacted by a lovely lady named Pina who sent me some hair samples from Monat. I had never heard of Monat before she contacted me. It’s a premium haircare line and I think it’s kind of similar to Arbonne where you have independent consultants. They have a bunch of different products for different hair needs. The products are cruelty free, don’t have toxic ingredients and are safe to use on colour treated hair and extensions. I received 4 samples: an oil, shampoo, conditioner and mask.

Rejuveniqe Oil Intensive

Nourish and energize your scalp with an invigorating blend of 13+ Natural Plant and Essential Oils rich in omega fatty acids, antioxidants and nutrients highly compatible with the skin and hair. As a result, the hair looks instantly healthier with long-lasting shine.

This oil smells like lemon meringue. I used it as a pre-shampoo treatment leaving it on for 15 minutes. After I washed and dried my hair, it looked shiny and felt smooth. It says you can use it on your skin too, but I decided to use it on my hair because I wouldn’t be able to tell if it did anything after one use on my skin. You can use it as a pre-shampoo treatment, an intensive hydrating treatment or an anti-frizz leave in finishing treatment.

Pre-Shampoo: Apply a generous amount to dry or damp hair and scalp. Leave on for 15 minutes; rinse thoroughly. Shampoo and condition as usual.

Intensive Hydration: Apply a generous amount to damp hair and scalp. Place a warm, moist towel around the head and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly; shampoo and condition.

Anti-Frizz: Apply a small amount to hands and apply to hair after styling,
concentrating on the ends.

Revive Shampoo

A gentle volumizing cleanser that delivers body to fine and limp hair. Gives hair a touchably soft and youthful look. Safe to use on coloured and/or chemically treated hair and extensions.

Revitalize Conditioner

A gentle volumizing conditioner for fine and limp hair that penetrates and nurtures the scalp. Delivers moisture and vital nutrients to aid in plumping and energizing hair from roots to ends. Fine, flat hair is left touchably soft and shiny.

The shampoo and conditioner both smell like a hand cream they use where I occasionally get my nails done. It’s kind of citrus-y like the oil but the scent is lighter. Hair feels smooth and looks shiny. I think the conditioner helped to detangle my hair. Obviously, I can’t say if it does what it claims to do for your hair long term because I only tried one-use samples.

Replenish Masque

A repairing and hydrating masque ideal for damaged and moisture-starved hair that penetrates and nurtures the scalp. Infuses essential moisture and delivers vital nutrients to help eliminate frizz and reduce split ends. Hair is left silky, more manageable and youthful looking.

The mask smells like the shampoo and conditioner. I don’t know if it’s just in my head, but my hair does feel softer and it was easy to comb after rinsing off the mask.

It’s hard to give a rating for products that I only sampled once, but I give them all a 4 out of 5. They all made my hair look shiny, feel smooth and silky, and easy to comb through. They are quite pricey compared to what I usually buy (drugstore shampoo and conditioner). Lately, I’ve been using jumbo sized Pantene shampoo and conditioner I got from Costco. I prefer to save on shampoo and conditioner and spend more on other hair care products.
