I was contacted by a consultant for Rodan + Fields who offered to send me some free samples. She very generously sent me a variety of products from the REDEFINE and Active Hydration lines as well as the Perfecting Liquid because she knows I like makeup. Check out her IG page, @gobeyondthenorm!
I’d like to say first that it’s obviously hard to review products when you have small samples especially with skincare because you can’t see the long-term effects it has on your skin, but here are my first impressions of the products I received:
This creamy, fast-drying Kaolin Clay-based cleansing mask uses gentle exfoliators that noticeably soften and smooth for younger-looking, younger feeling skin.
This made my face feel very clean, but not dry at all. My face also felt super soft from the gentle exfoliators in this. I’m not sure I’d use it daily, but maybe weekly.
Experience the revitalizing benefits of powerful Vitamin A without a visit to the dermatologist’s office with this nighttime face serum that empowers skin’s own renewing process. In just four weeks, you’ll have more refined, firmer-looking, smooth skin with less visible lines and wrinkles.
This has the same texture as a blurring primer and since it’s skincare, it probably has some benefits that a primer doesn’t give you.
Rich in antioxidants, each capsule of this lip treatment helps lips retain their natural moisture. REDEFINE™ Lip Renewing Serum also visibly smooths lip texture and reduces the appearance of fine lines and lip wrinkles.
This lip renewing serum has a pepperminty scent that’s nice and also has a slight tingle like a plumping gloss. It adds a sheen to your lips like a gloss, but feels like a balm (not sticky on the lips). I think it’s cute that it comes in a capsule which makes it hygienic (unlike lip balms that come in pots). It’s quite expensive for 60 capsules (it’s $58 which means it’s just under a dollar per capsule).
An oil-free face serum that raises skin’s hydration level by 200% after just one use and maintains continuous hydration for eight hours,* transforming dry skin into younger-looking, younger-acting skin. This face serum balances moisture levels and preps skin to better receive products layered on top, amplifying their performance.
It felt very nice applying it. It stays quite tacky which I guess is good to know that it’s hydrating and hasn’t absorbed into the skin. It’s not strongly fragranced which I like. I think I’d prefer this during the day because I would just stick to my pillows if I slept with this serum.
An eye cream that targets the thin, fragile skin around the eyes — often the first place to show signs of stress and fatigue — and brightens the area for a more rested look. It instantly illuminates and soothes, and over time improves the appearance of stubborn dark circles, dry skin around the eyes and under-eye puffiness.
This made my under eyes feel very smooth, soft and radiant-looking. I swatched it on my hand and it looked kind of shimmery which is probably how it illuminates the under eyes. I would probably prefer using this in the daytime as well so that the smoothing effect would look good under makeup. Notable ingredients are caffeine and hyaluronic acid. However, this also has alcohol denat, dimethicone and fragrance in it, so I don’t think I would personally purchase this eye complex since I have sensitive skin. I’m also trying to get away from fragrances in my everyday skincare products.
Protect and perfect with Radiant Defense™ Perfecting Liquid Broad Spectrum SPF 30. This lightweight, oil-free Glow Guard delivers a beautiful finish to your skincare routine and protects the glowing ski you’ve earned.
Available in six flexible, natural-looking shades that provide buildable coverage. Select one shade or mix two together for a customized glow. Apply as the last step of your skincare routine for a radiant, healthy-looking complexion.
This feels like a tinted sunblock that’s more liquid-y. Similar to BB creams, the shade range isn’t that good and I didn’t have a perfect match in it. I would probably be somewhere between Beige 2 and Sand 3. This is a nice product if you have beautiful skin (and probably will have if you’re using other Rodan + Fields products). It doesn’t provide me with enough coverage, so this isn’t for me. If you want something with very sheer coverage, this is a nice option.
Final Thoughts: I really enjoyed the REDEFINE products. I think my fave was the Daily Cleansing Mask. Although, I do think these are quite expensive for what you get (especially the products that come in capsules). While the capsules are great for hygienic purposes and for travel, you only get about 60 capsules in each bottle.
Have you tried Rodan + Fields? What were your thoughts on the brand?
